THE PROJECT
Maya Sheinber’s interior design firm combines contemporary furnishings with exclusive and contrasting finishes in a Tel Aviv residential project. The Ak_Project system by Arrital was chosen to furnish the kitchen.

Spacious, light-filled rooms in contact with nature and exclusive finishes that complement the overall design of the home. These elements became the focal points of the design for this new apartment, created by Maya Sheinber.

The home is designed around the living area, an open space overlooking a large, verdant terrace, featuring large, full-height windows along the outside perimeter that flood the interior with soothing natural light, creating a calm and relaxing environment. At its heart lies the Ak_Project kitchen by Arrital, selected by the designers in the wood-effect Smoke finish for the tall units with retractable doors, and in the Polar finish for the island with top in Calacatta white marble. A combination of materials that best reflects the abundant light entering through the windows and accentuates the sensation of being in an open and airy space. The minimalist design defining the Ak_Project system perfectly reflects the concept of the entire home,
creating a functional, welcoming and dynamic kitchen environment, while maintaining a harmonious balance of forms and materials. In this project, the kitchen was intended to occupy a substantial portion of the space, making it crucial to select materials that would create a strong visual contrast, both in texture and colour. Thus, the dark tones of smoked wood used for the tall units contrast beautifully with the delicate veining of the white marble on the perpendicularly positioned island. The result: a sophisticated and elegant union. A metal and wood pendant light further accentuates the shape of the island, while a combination of wooden and leather bar stools softens its clean, straight lines.

The practical and elegant tall unit system serves as a partition between the kitchen and the stairwell. These Ak_Project elements are increasingly valued in interior design for their modularity and functionality, allowing for efficient division of spaces. In this specific case, there was no need to install a brick or plasterboard wall, rather, all the visible elements are an integral part of the furniture. The functionality of the internal space is heightened by the practical pocket doors, which don’t get in the way when open. The preparation area can be used when needed then closed again to hide it from view, all with elegance and linear appeal.
